December 5, 2011 3:39 pm

Whats up will all this r&b crap if I wanted to hear that I would turn it to 95.5!!!! No really what is going on to the buzz!!!

Jamie
December 5, 2011 4:08 pm

Hey Buzz team – I’m yearning for this on the RADIO. Not online. And I’m not yearning for the new NOW103.1 that the Buzz has recently transformed into. But honestly, once the Buzz started playing more Led Zepplin and G&R and less new rock, I stopped listening.
Was the Bake Sale a good-bye party for the rock? A new ad for NOW103.1 says you talked to people about what they wanted in local radio. What people did you talk to about radio?! Who wasn’t satisfied with the current radio stations? We already have a Wild 95.5, Sunny104.3, the Gater 98.7….we need a true alternative radio station.
BRING NEW ALTERNATIVE ROCK BACK TO THE RADIO!

    Travis
    February 16, 2012 2:15 pm

Dude, they didn’t turn into NOW 103.1! The BUZZ abandoned us and the people at NOW took over that channel. They think that just because they have an app and the website still features them, they’re just as accessible. Not everyone has an iPhone (and the ones who do just use Pandora) and I’m not willing to bring my laptop into my car!

      Jason
      February 16, 2012 2:32 pm

No, we don’t think that we’re just as accessible as before. But those are the options we have, online streaming and the mobile apps. We get it, some of you can’t listen. We wish you could, so listen when you can. And that’s really insulting to say that we abandoned you. People lost their jobs. Think beyond yourself.

This is crazy, I wondered why you all started playing so much of the old music nobody liked. It was their way of turning your audience away from you before shutting you down to avoid public backlash…. Makes sense now. I miss my old buzz prior to the hair band music. Now were stuck with a station thats listing their musical range as Lady Gaga to Lady Antebellum…. oh no, oh no.

    Jason
    December 5, 2011 5:38 pm

No, you’re not stuck. You can hear the old Alternative Buzz – just click “Listen Live” at the top of this page.

      Glenn
      December 5, 2011 5:43 pm

how do I listen on my radio? I don’t have satellite radio in my truck or anything fancy like that. I just want to hear the buzz on the radio.

      Carl
      December 5, 2011 5:53 pm

Jason, you can’t honestly tell me that you don’t feel like you have been kicked in the balls by CBS?! I feel like I have been kicked in the balls and I don’t even work for them! Thanks for keeping us all rockin’. You will be missed on air!

Georgia
December 5, 2011 5:15 pm

wait, so no more Buzz BakeSale?!
there was no heads up and radio is now dead.

Carl
December 5, 2011 5:22 pm

Now 103.1!? WTF is that! Give me my alternative!!! HD 2 is such a slap in the face to a station with the following that the Buzz has. Way to go CBS!!!

Nate Cousineau
December 5, 2011 5:37 pm

What Jamie said, word for word.

Glenn
December 5, 2011 5:40 pm

your new format sucks so bad I thought my teenage daughter had changed my station. apparently you changed your format to some kind of bubble gum crap that only a tween would listen to. I didn’t listen long enough to hear, but you are probably playing Justin Beiber and Myley Cyrus, whats next? aren’t there enough stations playing garbage already?

    Jason
    December 5, 2011 10:05 pm

Clarification: it’s not our new format. There is a new station on the 103.1 frequency. Don’t confuse that with The Buzz!

      DON ROBB
      December 6, 2011 2:04 pm

      JASON,

DOES CBS HAVE YOU DRINKING THE “KOOL AID” BECAUSE THEY SIGN YOUR PAYCHECK OR ARE YOU JUST NOT MAN ENOUGH TO TELL IT LIKE IT IS.

I PAID TO SEE ALL 16 BAKE SALE CONCERTS AND FEEL BETRAYED AND BEWILDERED THAT YOU AND THE REST OF THE DJ’S COULD SELL OUT YOUR AUDIENCE.

FREE RADIO IS THE HEART AND SOUL OF THE DEVELOPEMENT OF ROCK AND ROLL.

WHATS NEXT? ARE YOU ALL GOING TO JOIN HANDS AND SING SONGS AROUND THE CAMPFIRE?

      Jason
      December 6, 2011 4:14 pm

      DON,

NO I HAVE NOT HAD ANY CBS “KOOL AID”… wait… why am I typing in all caps.. I’m not “one of those people”. No Don, no CBS kool aid. I AM telling you how it is. It’s a numbers game and the numbers simply weren’t adding up. They couldn’t justify keeping it as it was. It wasn’t profitable and hadn’t been the last few years. That’s not our fault, it’s not your fault. You can blame it on the economy or whatever you like. But advertisers’ budgets have shrank considerably over the last few years and our company knows that it can have a better shot at turning a profit going after a different demographic than we were aiming at with The Buzz.

Do I like it? No I do not. But I’m not mad at the business owners for recognizing that they had to reverse the direction and make the station on the 103.1 signal profitable.

You might wanna get that caps lock button checked, I think it’s stuck.

December 5, 2011 6:24 pm

so is CBS radio gonna buy me a HD radio for XMAS??? i mean their app for the atrix phone sucks balls.

the yahoo music app is better and carries the buzz.

Gracie
December 5, 2011 8:14 pm

this SUCKS!!!! first 93.1 and now the Buzz…should’ve known when Led Zeppelin was on every hour, the death knell was was ringing…if we wanted to hear classic rock til our ears bleed we’d listen to the Gator…no warning either, nice CBS, really nice…such timing, the morning after the Bake Sale…really?

Sharon Wade
December 5, 2011 8:49 pm

I am sure I’m not the only one who is sickened by the unexpected change in the format of the Buzz. What are those of us who do not have HD radio or a downloadable device such as a IPhone to listen to the Buzz. I can’t take my computer in the car or in the shower which is where I do 90% of my listening. Any suggestions? I do know that as a woman in the West Palm Beach area, the only time I intend to listen to that crap on the new Buzz is to get a list of the advertisers so I can write to them and inform them that it will be a cold day in hell before I and I’m sure many others will purchase any of their products. Hope everyone out there will do the same. Esp. considering they dismiss the Buzz listeners as having any purchasing power, when in reality they tend to have the most disposable income.

Dani
December 5, 2011 10:47 pm

This really really blows! There was only one real rock station and now it’s gone, with no warning. What was the point of a bake sale for a radio station that is no longer?! The rap crap and the tweeny stuff has enough stations, where is our new rock?…the internet radio does nothing for us driving around and wanting to hear new rock without having to pay for satellite. I am saddened and wished there were other options. There is much more to this story and no one is being up front about it all :o (

Marlene
December 6, 2011 8:11 am

well I enjoyed listening to the morning show on the way to work and now it is gone….I can not stand the Ron & Paul show on Big and now you have yanked the last thing I listened to on terestrial radio… I do not have HD as I have satelite and will just switch to that full time

CBS has been mislead by their marketing people if they think this is acceptable.

Erin B.
December 6, 2011 8:40 am

Man I cannot believe that the only time I can listen to good music is when I’m on the computer…..so disappointed. Music is a huge part of my life and I feel like someone ripped the freakin carpet out from underneath me by making the alternative buzz available only via HD. What a shame that money became more important than their listeners. Thanks for screwing us with out the lube CBS!

KC
December 6, 2011 8:45 am

this app is terrible!!! this is not Buzz music/worthy :( how disappointing

ChrisW
December 6, 2011 9:34 am

OK BUZZ. WTF!! I have been a long time listener, participant. The first slap in the face was when the powers at be thought we all wanted to listen to Howard Stern and totally screwed Mark, Jenny and Dahmer. I switched to 93.1 until Loper shined on the air. I was back. I was again a fan. Now this s@*$. I know its all about the money but a bash like the buzz sale and a 15 year anniversary screwing. Thanks A lot Again.

    December 6, 2011 9:37 am

    This question is for Jason,

You mention dont confuse the new station broadcasting with the buzz. REALLY? What Buzz??????? You should call it the Fizz….

      Jason
      December 6, 2011 5:22 pm

What are you talking about Chris? The Buzz… you know the alternative rock station? Yeah. That’s not what is on 103.1 FM anymore. But you can still hear it streaming at Buzz103.com. Are you confused about exactly what has happened here?

      Daphne Brash
      December 6, 2011 8:45 pm

jason i know what happened someone fked up our good music with this crap. y do we wanna stream most ppl cant do that in their cars and ppl dont wanna listen to music with their phones only on the way to work. put it back the way it was.

      Jason
      December 7, 2011 12:30 am

Sorry Daphne, you know we’d make things back to normal if we could. But streaming is our only option now, we’ve moved off the FM dial and another station broadcasts on 103.1. Please continue to support the stream at Buzz103.com or through the Radio.com app on your smartphone/ipod/ipad! I wanna keep The Buzz around in its current version (much better than having no BUZZ at all)!

scott
December 6, 2011 9:37 am

WTF happent to the station. I is no longer playing real F(*^*&^ rock. THis is nuts.

Gracelynn Tenaglia
December 6, 2011 1:00 pm

Not for anything but WTF! I noticed and was getting annoyed that for a while you guys were playing the same older music instead of todays rock music but I never thought in my wildest dreams that it could get this bad! We need a rock station here in the Treasure Coast. Todays rock not yesterdays.

    Jason
    December 6, 2011 4:38 pm

You’ve got it, unfortunately it just moved off the FM dial. Hear it streaming now at Buzz103.com or through the Radio.com app on your smartphone or ipod.

      Mike T
      December 6, 2011 5:54 pm

Although I understand the realities of buisness, this still stinks for those of us without HD or IPhones. I’ve enjoyed the Buzz since the begining, and will miss it. I hope you and all the Buzz staff come out of this transition well.

      Jason
      December 7, 2011 12:54 am

Thanks Mike. Please listen whenever you can through Buzz103.com.

      Joe Metrisin
      December 6, 2011 5:58 pm

Jason, I’m just curious how the Buzz expects to survive online, or on HD when it couldn’t turn a profit on regular FM? Surely, you must know you’re going to lose a large percentage of your listeners. Is the business model different? Lower production costs?

      Jason
      December 7, 2011 12:53 am

Yes Joe, the game has completely changed for The Buzz. We are not bound by traditional radio ratings anymore since we are not heard on the FM dial. Our success depends purely on the number of people that listen to the stream and visit Buzz103.com. If it can remain successful there, then we’ll at least get to hang on to The Buzz as we currently have it. And personally, I’d rather have that than no Buzz at all. Is it the same? No. But it truly is The Buzz (a return to the classic Buzz music…. no more classic rock mixed in)!

    Jason
    December 7, 2011 12:37 am

Hey Scott. Unfortunately there is no “getting it back” the way it was. We are no longer broadcasting on the FM dial at 103.1, BUT you can still hear The Buzz streaming online at Buzz103.com. Please listen and support the station so we can hang on to it and have it to enjoy for years to come!

    December 7, 2011 12:31 am

Sorry Daphne. Luckily in my car I have my phone charger plugged into the cigarette lighter/power outlet and a cord running from my phone into the AUX jack on my car stereo so it works like a charm.

      Keith
      December 11, 2011 10:37 am

Exactly what I’m doing…. Most new cars come with the AUX jack and the phone app works fine. I’m wondering if the morning show Loper and Randi will remain on air? I guess I’ll find out tomorrow morning huh?

      Jason
      December 11, 2011 11:44 pm

Sorry Keith, they’re not continuing! Thanks for making the effort to continue to listen to The Buzz.

December 6, 2011 11:46 pm

i got somethin to say cbs u changed the format because u suck and ur tryin to fit in with this pop culture bull shit i for one will boycott the new 103.1 and like every one eles i thought sumone played a sick joke on me . as soon as u changed ur format it took 16 seconds it took less than that for me to change it and even lesser time to take it off my speed dial . this is fucking bull shit u killed the only reason for me listening to radio . only to appeal to older women sounds to me like ur tryin to appeal to teenage girls . so u sold out the buzz like some cheap nickel and dime slut that runs after a millionair

Jason, I am curious to know what your thoughts are on the petition on Change.org. There are now more than 3,000 signatures against this change.

And, is there anything more we can do to try to bring the Buzz back?
I have signed the petition, spread the petition though facebook, sent my thoughts to CBS Radio, and I continue to listen to you guys online.

Is it too early to tell, or do you know if the Bakesale’s going to return 2012?

I want the Buzz back on the Fm. =(
This sucks.

    December 8, 2011 9:02 am

Are we ever going to get Loper and Randi back in the morning? I really miss them. I saw them at the Bake Sale. Randi looks great (you too Loper). I am enjoying listening on line at work, however, I am unable to listen at home. I used totenjoy putting on the Buzz and cleaning the house. Oh well, I am old enough to know that all GREAT things must come to an end. Thanks for all the concert tickets and all the BAKE SALES. IT WAS FUN WHILE IT LASTED!

Chris
December 8, 2011 11:04 am

Idea is Buzz needs to take over B106.3 and call it 106.3 the buzz.
To make all the rock fans happy.

    Jason
    December 8, 2011 2:41 pm

Sorry Chris. That’s not the way it works. B106.3 doesn’t have the revenue generating issues that The Buzz had.

      Daphne Brash
      December 12, 2011 1:27 am

whats the point of buzz bake sale then. dude give us more ads or w/e i think most of us would be happy just to have our buzz back. i mean this was the only alt rock in my area (okeechobee) the one from orlando isnt crap on the buzz and it fades out half way to town (down to the south). what r we supposed to listen to. say some of us have family and thats where our money goes not on a phone that might break who knows when and fork out money for em all the time. honestly y do this there r many things yall could do to avoid this crap on 103.1 now. can we get an underground sation or something lol (joke). what can we do to help and dont say listen live on web or a phone. this is killing me idk what to listen to now so i ride with no music on and trust me it gets pretty boring after a bit

      Jason
      December 12, 2011 2:12 pm

Sorry Daphne, our only options now are to get The Buzz online!

I’m so sad! I remember when The BUZZ took over for ZROCK. I thought my life would never be the same….. Had I known that Pop would some day kill Alternative radio I would have felt a little differently. I’m not 21 and have no desire to listen to the music of their generation. I’m totally disenfranchised, not young enough to be cool, but not old enough to be ok with that. I miss the 90′s!
CBS hates people in their thirties!! We are a valid market……..just saying.

Carl
December 14, 2011 6:33 pm

Jason,

I have been streaming now since I listened to you sign off for the last time on 103.1 FM and I have to say this new stream kicks ass. If you could, please pass on a thank you to Ross and John O’ for going back to the Buzz roots and playing some of the music that made South Florida so passionate about the Buzz. The Buzz was and ALWAYS will be about the music and that can clearly be heard with this new stream. Thanks to you and all the Buzz staff for all you have done for South Florida! SSSSeee ya!

    Jason
    December 15, 2011 3:36 pm

Thanks man. As a Buzz listener myself, it’s quite a relief and very enjoyable to have the station return to our Alternative roots. I think it sounds 100% better with regards to the music we’re playing. I’m glad you do too.

Brenda
December 19, 2011 6:08 pm

How is the station going to make a profit when no one will be listening to 103.1?
GIVE US BACK OUR BUZZ !!!!

    Jason

Sorry Brenda. The Buzz has left the FM dial. Please continue to support The Buzz online so we can hang on to the bit of The Buzz we have left!

I just bought an Insignia portable HD radio from Best Buy for $50. This thing is very small (half the size of a cell phone) and has an aux jack that hooks up to my car sound system. It works great and I highly recommend it. Sure beats listening to Adele and Gaga..

Why don’t you guys tell CBS to bring you back on FM, for all your loyal fans instead of radio.com (which is quite inconvienient). Ashamed and disappointed.

    Jason
    January 18, 2012 3:57 pm

Oh if it were only that easy Sophia, we would have done that on day one! Unfortunately going back on FM is not an option. Please continue to support The Buzz through the current options so we can at least keep this little piece of The Buzz around!

boy robin
February 2, 2012 2:59 pm

if you are going to go back to this classic Buzz stuff then you should bring back the old DJs like Meathead, Robert (?), Dan O, Summers, etc to do shows/play music

    Jason
    February 2, 2012 9:05 pm

Heh, wouldn’t that be nice? Unfortunately that’s not possible. They’re spread all across the country and they all have families. As much as we hate to admit it, the past is the past and you can’t go back!

      brian
      February 13, 2012 4:59 pm

jason, would a new rock station be more profitable on the treasure coast than in west palm beach? there’s alot of us here that love rock music on the treasure coast. i know miami or anything south cant have one because there’s not enough white people that listens to rock down there.i just think it would do better up here.

      Jason
      February 14, 2012 11:58 am

I doubt it. Rock stations all over the country are signing off. Advertisers are just going for different demographics than the rock listeners.

      boy robin
      February 14, 2012 11:50 am

“It’s the same ol’ Buzz you’ve enjoyed for the previous 15 years. You demanded it and now you’ve got it.”

I think technology would allow for it…

      no personalities = no personality

might as well create a station in Pandora to listen to streaming Alternative music then.

      Jason
      February 14, 2012 11:58 am

What do you want from me?

boy robin
February 14, 2012 12:41 pm

I want the Buzz to reinvent themselves and acknowledge that they’ve been given a new lease on ‘radio life’ to be free, creative and expressive – instead of crawling into that shell that CBS has handed to you. Otherwise, you are asking listeners to fight a losing battle. The chances of this working are slim unless the Buzz takes some risks again. DON’T BE QUITTERS!

    Jason
    February 14, 2012 1:57 pm

We haven’t quit, we’re here! Unfortunately The Buzz is an army of one (me) inside the building here. I pick the best Buzz music that I know how and promote it online and I depend on you guys to help us spread the word… I’m doing my part. Thanks for the passion. If only all of the South Florida listeners had it, The Buzz would still be on the FM dial.

brian
February 14, 2012 6:02 pm

it looks like wjrr in orlando and 98 rock do really good. i dont think there going anywhere anytime soon. jason you make it sound like there is no hope for rock music and every station is doomed.

    Jason
    February 14, 2012 6:31 pm

I’m not sure what’s going on in other markets. Sadly, it couldn’t work here in the West Palm Beach market. And yes, nationwide, rock radio is on life support. There aren’t very many stations left compared to just a few years ago.

      amy!!
      February 23, 2012 12:18 am

If rock music is on life support, then why does CBS list KROQ and WXRT as their two strongest brands? They are both rock! Also, have you noticed that while advertisers side with pop music to make more money, they feature alternative rock songs in their commercials? I caught Sleeper Agent on a Taco Bell commercial! This is all a numbers game. It has nothing to do with what music people want or like. And the ones to pay are the rock artists, fans, and dj’s. Very sad.

well hey man i respect and admire what your doing there. trying to keep it alive.thats cool!! i can remember not to many years ago when rock ruled and there were tons of bands and stations everywhere.we had three stations here on the treasure coast that played rock and alt. back in the 90s. my have times changed.seems like now all that fm cares about is country ,pop, and rap. oh and talk radio.and i counted 8 christian stations the other day!! really?fm radio around here is a wasteland.i hope someday that will change.

Pop music is a cheesy trend like Z Cavaricis and scrunch socks. We look back and wonder what people were thinking? Likewise, cheesy trends like Niki Minaj and Lady Gaga all have their expiration dates. Then people will look back and deny ever liking it.

Jason, what I really loved about Buzz was especially ROSS. That guy is a fantastic personality. I would listen to the buzz for him even more so than the music. He had the voice of an old friend and a leader which was so reassuring (and funny) to hear between songs.

There was real substance to what he did which just isn’t to be found anywhere else.

BTW I used to like to go to Island Jack’s for Ross’s party, and when I couldn’t make it I used to like to check the the website to see what I missed. BUT LATELY I’M NOT SEEING ANY UPDATES FROM THE PARTY. HAS THE PARTY DIED? Why are there hot body contest photos from past parties but nothing recently? Spring Break is upon us, if the party is still alive weekly updates would be encouraging that our battle has a fighting chance!!!

AJ, the party is still going on Wednesday nights. Ross is still the host. However Island Jacks hasn’t been advertising with us lately and therefore The Buzz hasn’t been there, hence no new photos.

Jason, I enjoyed listening to the Buzz since 1996 — it was a punch to the stomach when I heard the garbage (the change) on 12/5/11

Listening to Buzz Light on Sunday mornings (while waking up with a random hot chick from the prior Saturday night) are memories that will stay with me forever!

Jason, you have a world-class voice, just, level-headed, and always know what to say at the right moment —

I wish you continued happiness here online and elsewhere –

Just tune in to 103.1-2. Your radio has a button on it that lets you select sub-channels. Tune into 103.1 then hit that button to go to 103.1-2!
